LELE SACCHI DJ

Lele Sacchi started his career in music quite early. At 15 he was already presenting a radio show on a small local radio (playing punk, hip hop and indie rock) and at 18 he was contributing with nationwide music magazines. But it’s in 1994 that he understands his deepest love is playing records in front of an audience. In 1995 he has his first big break becoming a resident dj at TUNNEL (the focal point of underground Milan in the 90’s) from where in a very short time he gets known on the italian scene for his sets made of the newest most alternative dance music. In the meantime he starts working in the records industry with a job inside the Right Tempo family. In ’98 he becomes a consultant for the music distribution company called White&Black, managing a number of cult international labels for the italian territory. In 1999 his first mix compilation ‘The Next Tribes Of House Music’ is released and it’s a success both in the press and in the shops. The CD is ‘album of the week’ on the then most important weekly of the dance music world, the british magazine 7 (the review ending up with the phrase ‘Quite simply superb’). Thanks to this successes, to the first international gigs and the always growing gigs aside the top world dj’s, Lele Sacchi ends up behind the decks of JETLAG, the friday nights of Milan’s MAGAZZINI GENERALI in the year 2000 (a residency going on strong still today!!). The night attracts averagely 1500 people and the booth sees both giants of the club scene like Carl Cox, Chemical Bros., Basement Jaxx, Sven Vath etc…and the cutting edge of the electronic world as Ricardo Villalobos, Steve Bug, Tefschwarz and co.passing by as guests. By the house community it is reverred as one of the best clubs in Europe (and MTV viewers voted it best italian club in 2004). In this same year he starts SOUNDPLANT records, a label dedicated to QUALITY music for dj’s. The releases are always supported and charted by a range of top world dj’s from the whole spectrum of the scene going from Dave Clarke to Groove Armada. With the release of his second mix CD, ‘House Emotions’, Lele Sacchi imposes to a wider audience his elegant style that fuses house music, electronic sounds and echoes from the past. The gigs are now in some the best clubs around (from the Rex and Batofar in Paris to The Key, Cargo and Ministry of Sound in London, from Zeppelin in Moscow to the Sullivan Room in NY, from Space and Privilege in Ibiza to La terrazza and City Hall in Barcelona are only some of the clubs where he played records) and he gets asked to play exclusive special events such as the official Madonna’s Milan concert aftershow, Prada’s Christmas party, the Biennale art in Venice or sounddesigning for catwalks and exhibitions (for the likes of Pitti, Diesel, New York Industrie, Adidas, Fornarina, Edra, Moroso…) In 2002 the studio project BOOGIE DRAMA is born with studio partner Sandiego. First production is the remix of the house-punk hit ‘Who Said’ by Planet Funk and then they start releasing trax and remixes for labels like the germans Wasnotwas and Moodmusic, the cult english 20-20 Vision (as Sacchi & Sandiego) and Soundplant itself. Despite being such a recent project Boogie Drama is already a hot name on the scene gaining full support and charts by cult dj’s like Andy Weatherall, Layo & Bushwacka, Ralph Lawson, Ivan Smagghè and excellent reviews on the international magazines (‘Stalker’s Groove’ has been a Sureplayer single on english DJ magazine and Cut of the Month on France’s Only For DJ’s) . Those tracks have been license to cult compilations as ‘BUGNOLOGY’ by Steve Bug and GLOBAL UNDERGROUND by Danny Howells. In 2004 Lele Sacchi has compiled and mixed a CD for the BARGROOVES compilation, the english collection of sophisticated house. After other remixes for various european labels a new Boogie Drama single ‘Dancing in the darkness’ is relased in time for being played out by most of the coolest dj’s in summer 2006 by Hamburg’s label WasNotWas (again tech-house single of the month on DJ mag) and another sureplayer single for DJ mag with the remix of ‘Changes’ on Soundplant. 2006 sees Lele Sacchi founding and directing together with a likeminded group of persons the ELITA festival a three-day long event which will be described as ‘THE soundtrack of the design week’. In 2007 a string of new Boogie Drama remixes came for the likes of Brique Rouge, Moodmusic and Infant. In 2008 he secures a regular guest spot at Berlin’s legendary Weekend club and starts teaching a course on music subcultures at IED (European Institute of Design), an highly respected private univeristy. 2009 is the year of new releases from the Boogie Drama project: ‘THE CONSPIRACY’ is released in January by Berlin’s MOODMUSIC to wonderful feedbacks by top dj's, press and radios, in February a remix for Hamburg’s finest LIEBE*DETAIL label and in April a full three-track ep for Marc Romboy’s world reknowned SYSTEMATIC recordings that ended up in Beatport House top 15 and remixed a single of one of the most prestigious electronic label in the world GET PHYSICAL from Berlin. The new weekly clubbing adventure at revamped Tunnel, where the atmosphere is perfect to launch the dance underground's cream of the crop as Dixon, John Talabot, Carl Craig, Tale Of Us and so on. In 2011 some new releases by Boogie Drama come out in the form of a remix for Get Physical a new single for Chiacgo’s Real Estate and also a tune under his own Lele Sacchi name on MOOD MUSIC XV years anniversary compilation. Then finally from January 2012 he starts hosting a weekly radio show on national state FM RAI called RADIO2 INTHEMIX. In 2014 TOP DJ, the first talent show in the world dedicated to the world of dj’s and electronic music begins to be aired on SKY TV and Lele is chosen as a main character sitting as one of the three judges in every single episode. A the same time he launches a string of new productions under his own proper name with new music for 20:20 Vision (as Sacchi & Sasse), remixes for SOUL CLAP records, for Dave Seaman, for indie and pop projects (legendary nyc band BLONDE REDHEAD included) and a new single for the much lauded INTERNASJONAL (Prins Thomas’ label).
