DANILO VIGORITO DJ
3th Dec. 1974: Danilo was born in Naples , the celebrated southern Italy town which 20 years later will become a renowned capital of Techno Music.
Since the early 80's, his passion for music led him more and more towards the creation of it. In 86 he decided to study classical music from its beginning to acquire the technical harmonization, reading and writing. Always having as a reference the pop music of the 80s, approaches the world of electronics and then samplers and synthesizers, so begins the vocation for electronic music.
After 10 years spent in acquiring more and more experience with machines, synthesizers and recording studios, in the year 91 Danilo starts his DJ career and founds the 'Three Imaginary Boys', the very first underground team of the Naples club life.
For over 5 years the band became a true legend in the Neapolitan electronic scene but it wasn’t enough, in fact, in the year 96, after acquiring a significant years experience as DJ, Sound Engineer and Musician, Danilo started his career as a soloist.
After two years spent in the studio to search for what was to become his unmistakable sound, come out one set of tracks that are shipped to major labels of the time and in the year 99 come the first production. Danilo gives birth to his music releasing Sync Mode EP for Informal Records. A very prolific studio work leads Danilo to international awareness, releasing on the well-known Speaker Attack, Primate, Conform, Zenit and Genetic Recordings.
In the year 2000, Danilo presents his first record project FROZEN, an innovative and astonishing electro minimal label that gives birth to a very intense Dj work with innumerable showcases around the globe.
During those years, he produce on Zenit Recordings the releases that spread the 'Imaginary Boy ' nickname, derived from the 'Three Imaginary Boys' project.
Danilo's tracks appear in the charts of the biggest DJs like Richie Hawtin and Sven Vath (soon Danilo will remix Shock Ralley for Sven, released on Virgin Records in 2003).
Second label Orion Muzik appears. Danilo earns the reputation of new phenomenon on the electronic scene, identifying himself with elaborated and refined production techniques more typical of a live set.
In only 2 years, Between 2001 and 2003, Danilo releases 29 EPs more about 10 remixes for talented producers
His tracks appear on the most important international compilations: DRILL, BOLT and AUGER on 'U60311 Compilation: Techno Division Vol. 2' (2002) mixed by Dj Rush; SOUL on 'Fabric 09' (2003) mixed by Slam; FLEX on 'I Love Techno 2003' mixed by Stenny Fransen; ORION 001 on 'Live at Sonar' (2004) by François Kevorkian and KEVIN EP (A1) on 'Carl Cox - Sound Of Ibiza 2004' are just a few evidences of a career at the height of his fame, definitely celebrated with the appearance of the KNAP track on 'Exhibitionist' CD/dvd (2004) by Jeff Mills.
With this intense record production, Danilo is defined as a Techno Guru and joining Cocoon Bookings (from 2002/2005) he becomes one of the most popular DJs in the world with about 150 gigs a year around the world.
In the year 2005 Danilo founded the new Intelligence label. The label born to give space to new and deeper experimentations which demonstrate the ability to invigorate techno sound. Another Imagination EP, released on 21 april 2005, is the first step towards a new era for techno music.
IOMM [Inside Orion] Minimal Muzik is Danilo's latest project (year 2006). Born inside the well popular ORION MUZIK project, IO releases complete ORION MUZIK profile with minimal productions and set the earlier electro minimal inspirations in a new revisited project.
October 2006: Danilo releases his fourth own label. first appeared with no name and no paternity, the full-black sleeve vinyl catches everybody's attention and it's soon licensed for several compilations. BLACKONE (this is the first single title) starts a new interesting catalogue by Danilo Vigorito, BLACKLABEL.
From 2007 to 2010: Danilo makes more than 15 releases on his labels (Orion Muzik, Intelligence, Inside Orion and Black Label) expanding his catalog. In the year 2011 Finally, after more than 10 years on the scene, comes "On and On" The Album!
2012 come the new album “Homegrown Tears†the album, that is an tribute to all the people who have left their own country in the past and present looking for a better future for their families.
Inspired by the classic of the Neapolitan music (this is not a remake), the artist has recreated in his way the atmosphere warm and sometimes heartbreaking, that just characterize the classic of the Neapolitan music.
In collaboration with one of the most important musicians of the classic Neapolitan scene, the great violinist Michael Signore from "Nuova Compagnia Di Canto Popolare Of Napoli", Danilo makes up one of most characteristic songs from the album that give also the name "Homegrown Tears". Here we find the most touching song with a violin line.
We also find Gretchen Rhodes, the singer who has collaborated in the previous album "On and On". Gretchen definitely does not need presentation, a truly versatile artist who expresses herself in this album with sweetness and character..Remarkable, the song Naples Passion.
